On Forgiveness

Fragrance is the most subtle tidbit in an appealing piece of appetite. And it is the same fragrance that often works wonders on the human heart. It is said that a bit of fragrance always clings to the hand that gives roses. Fragrance, like mercy or hatred always leaves a certain portion of its bulk to its source. It never goes away completely. A tiny bit always lingers.
Yet, it has the power to make or break things. All of them, I’d rather say: mercy and hatred and fragrance (obviously not literally in this case). One just can’t ignore their presence or the orbit of their presence. And then, one stops to think and realize that the orbit is larger than the universe itself.
Forgiveness is the miraculous power bestowed by the almighty God upon His insignificant creations. And we, mere mortals fail to succumb to the responsibility that comes with it like every other object of power that has been given to us. Forgiveness is like the fragrance that never fades away. It has, concealed within itself, the glory of mercy as well as the sweet taste of revenge that comes with hatred. This is because forgiveness is a decision to no longer hold on to an offense against another group or person. It's a choice. Whatever one chooses, he wins. Forgiveness, on the surface, is the tool to redeem conflict. It is the ticket to move on in life.
Things are never easy. Even a child’s play isn’t easy for a child, or for an adult for that matter. I could give u numerous examples for that. And then there comes various circumstances to make them even more complex. Forgiveness, too, isn’t an easy business. It takes real grit and superiority to forgive someone, and when that someone has done some act of utter contempt, God save that soul from the burning vengeful human heart.

Yet it is forgiveness on the part of the victim that comes to his rescue. Forgiveness, these days, is never used to heal to its optimal potential. A mere word admitting guilt is not enough to appeal for forgiveness yet a ‘sorry’ from the heart is all it takes it start. Grudges are harmful, more so to the person holding it. Letting go off that grudge is what lets a person let go off the burden of his vengeance and in a manner achieve it to the fullest satisfaction.
